Photos and Results

Burnie Carnival is the premier running carnival in Tasmania and is on a par with Victoria's Stawell and the later Bay Sheffield in South Australia. This year runners in the Burnie Mens Gift will run for $15,000 plus an extra $2,000 in the backmarkers invitation for those who miss out on the Gift final. Previous years have seen fireworks, sideshows, foodstalls and all the fun of the fair whilst watching the running, cycling and wood chopping events of international standard.Over the past few years the Burnie Carnival has had to compete with the ever increasing number of events held New Years Eve and this year organisers have cut back on the program to enable a later start. With the 90m races included the 1st run at 10.00am. Burnie is further west from Devonport and also has its own airport at Wynyard. Burnie is also the gateway to Tasmania's West Coast and is a bustling rural city with all modern conveniences.
